During the first three weeks of August, 1917, the 15th London battalion of 140 Brigade, 47th Division were training at Tatinghem near St Omer, well in the rear of the front line, so the death of Harold Anderson, who was killed in action on 14th August, is a bit of a mystery. The most likely explanation is that at the time he was attached to another unit engaged in the opening operations of the Third Battle of Ypres but there is no information to be found regarding this possibility. |
